Among the 20 players in the money (ITM) who also got to open Mystery Bounty envelopes were Dutch player Joris Ruijs, Alessio Peciarolo (who finished 5th), Fausto Tantillo, who reached the final table and pulled a โ‚ฌ1,000 envelope, Alessandro Pichierri (9th place), and Luca Accornero, who finished in 18th place.

But the biggest smile belongs to Natale Albanese, because in the end, the JOKER is his! ๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ†

Physical Endurance in Single-Day Poker Tournaments, Especially with Casa delle Carte Ahead: A Key Element for Success

Poker has always been a game of strategy, skill, and psychology, but one cannot overlook the importance of physical endurance, especially in single-day tournaments. Although poker is not a sport in the traditional sense, it still requires significant mental and physical stamina, particularly when participating in events that last many hours, sometimes entire days, like the Casa delle Carte event.

Single-day poker tournaments are characterized by being held in a single day, but their duration can range from 8 to 12 hours, and sometimes even longer, as is the case with the upcoming edition on International Women’s Day, March 8th.

In a single-day tournament, players face a series of challenges that go beyond the game itself, involving both physical and mental endurance. During a session that can last many hours, maintaining high levels of concentration, making quick decisions, and, most importantly, avoiding mental and physical fatigue is crucial.

Mental fatigue is one of the most underestimated difficulties in poker. Long gaming sessions require constant focus, an ability to calculate probabilities, read opponents, and make strategic choices. Mental exhaustion can lead to misjudgments, concentration lapses, or even “tilt” โ€” an emotional state of frustration that can impair decision-making.

This is why we recommend taking breaks to avoid compromising your tournament performance, perhaps by enjoying a coffee at the Imperium bar…

However, physical fatigue plays an equally important role. Although there is no intense physical activity, sitting for hours, often with poor posture, can lead to muscle pain, stiffness, and energy dips. Additionally, managing nutrition, hydration levels, and breaks is essential for maintaining the physical balance necessary to get through such a long day.

The best advice for those taking part in tomorrowโ€™s marathon tournament is to get plenty of rest tonightโ€ฆ no late-night poker sessions, just lots and lots of sleep… and as always, good luck!

“La Notte degli Assi”, to infinity and beyond…

Since its creation in 2007, “La Notte degli Assi” has evolved over the years, starting from local clubs and eventually becoming an international brand with both national and international stops, ranging from Campione to Sanremo, passing through Nova Gorica and Sharm El Sheik, reaching Prague, Rozvadov, Minsk, and in recent years, one of the most acclaimed events in Cyprus, the new European capital of Texas Hold’em.

Each edition has seen an increase in participants, and many of the winners have been, or are still, at the top of the poker world.

However, the 2025 edition, taking place in June, aims to push this constant growth to an extreme, offering a formula never before used in MTT tournaments.

A guaranteed prize pool of 2 million, which is already impressive… but with an even more incredible distribution.

Half of the prize pool, in fact, (1 million) will be allocated solely to the winner!!!

Surely, many are already marking the dates from June 14 to June 24 with a red marker on their calendars, the days during which the festival will take place.
The only question that remains is: the location of this incredible poker event.
For now, however, the venue and buy-in for the event remain top secret, but as always, we are confident that the Imperium Room will not disappoint expectations.
All we can do now is eagerly wait for the latest updates from the organizers… and wish everyone, especially on this occasion… GL!!!

The new fever in poker tournaments

In the world of poker, MTT tournaments have always been one of the most exciting and engaging formats for players, with a series of challenges that test skill, strategy, and nerves of steel. But when the element of mystery bounty is added, the gaming experience reaches a whole new level of adrenaline.

MTT Mystery Bounty tournaments are a relatively new variant, but one that has already won the hearts of many poker enthusiasts. In these events, players not only battle for the final prize pool, but they also have the chance to earn mystery envelopes every time they eliminate an opponent. Each envelope can contain a variable prize, ranging from small amounts to large jackpots, creating an atmosphere of tension and anticipation with every elimination.

What makes this format so unique is the uncertainty surrounding the envelopes. Every time a player eliminates an opponent, the space between the euphoria of victory and the uncertainty of whatโ€™s inside the mystery envelope becomes tangible. The choice of the envelope itself adds to the excitement. There is always that feeling that, behind every elimination, there could be a surprising reward: it might be a small prize, but it could also be a life-changing amount.

MTT Mystery Bounty events thus play on the psychology of the player, where the search for the additional prize adds another layer to the traditional game of strategy. It creates a dynamic where, even when players are losing ground in the tournament, the possibility of a mystery envelope can bring them back into the game and fuel new hopes.

The introduction of mystery envelopes also affects strategy. An experienced player knows that timing is crucial: eliminating an opponent could bring a surprise that affects not only their stack but also their future decisions. For example, in the later stages of the tournament, a player with a marginal hand might decide to take a bit more of a risk to eliminate an opponent, hoping that the mystery envelope will offer a prize that compensates for a higher bet.

The variability of the prizes inside the envelopes means that risk management becomes even more important. If you’re lucky and find an envelope with a high prize, it could make up for an entire session of play. On the other hand, if you find an envelope with a smaller prize, the adrenaline turns into frustration, but without ever losing the allure of unpredictability.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of an MTT Mystery Bounty tournament is the unpredictability that comes with it. The feeling that every elimination could turn into a game-changer is what keeps players on the edge of their seats, ready to experience a rollercoaster of highs and lows. A small prize might seem disappointing, but the idea that one of the next eliminations could bring a mysterious jackpot makes every hand charged with tension.

The suspense that builds around the moment of opening the envelope is unique, fueled by a constant interplay of hope and nervousness. Every player knows that, no matter how skilled they are, a bit of luck can change everything in an instant. Itโ€™s the perfect balance between skill and chance that makes the MTT Mystery Bounty tournament so thrilling and captivating.

In summary, MTT Mystery Bounty tournaments offer a poker experience that goes beyond the simple game of cards. The mystery envelopes add a dimension of excitement and uncertainty that turns every elimination into a moment of pure adrenaline. With a mix of strategy, risk, and a good dose of luck, these tournaments are destined to remain among the most beloved and followed in the global poker scene, always offering new thrills to those who dare challenge fate.

Should Recreational Poker Players Use GTO or Not?

In the world of poker, two prominent approaches dominate strategic thinking: Game Theory Optimal (GTO) and Exploitative play. GTO is a strategy designed to make you unexploitable by opponents, focusing on balance and mathematical precision. Exploitative play, on the other hand, aims to take advantage of specific weaknesses in your opponentsโ€™ strategies. But for recreational playersโ€”those who play poker primarily for fun rather than professional gainโ€”thereโ€™s often a question of whether itโ€™s better to use GTO or not.

The answer depends on several factors, including your goals, the type of games you’re playing, and your overall poker experience. Here’s a breakdown of why GTO may or may not be the best approach for recreational players.

1. The Complexity of GTO

GTO is an advanced strategy that involves balancing your plays between value betting, bluffing, and folding in a way that minimizes the risk of being exploited by your opponents. The goal is to make your play unpredictable so that no matter what your opponents do, they canโ€™t consistently take advantage of you.

While GTO is a powerful tool, itโ€™s also incredibly complex. To fully implement a GTO strategy, you need a deep understanding of the game, advanced knowledge of hand ranges, and an ability to think several moves ahead. This kind of thinking can be challenging for recreational players, who may not have the time or inclination to study poker at such a granular level.

Moreover, GTO often involves making mathematically precise plays that are difficult to execute without software tools or poker solvers, especially in live settings. For recreational players, it can be overwhelming to try to master GTO, especially when the fun of the game often comes from making decisions based on intuition and experience rather than pure math.

2. The Fun Factor

Recreational players typically play poker for enjoyment, and GTO might take some of the fun out of the game. The strategy involves a lot of repetitive, standardized decisionsโ€”using the same approach to hands in similar situationsโ€”which can feel less exciting for those who enjoy the variability of poker.

Instead of focusing on precise balance, recreational players may find it more enjoyable to focus on reading opponents, making creative bluffs, and experimenting with different plays. Poker is a social game, and the fun often comes from the interaction with other players, rather than from playing in a purely optimal way.

3. Exploitative Play Might Be More Effective

For recreational players, exploitative playโ€”which involves adjusting your strategy to exploit the weaknesses of your opponentsโ€”might be more effective than using GTO. In most casual or recreational games, your opponents are not playing GTO themselves. They may be making predictable mistakes or showing tendencies that you can take advantage of.

For example, if you notice an opponent is folding too often to bets or raising with weak hands, you can adjust by betting aggressively in those situations. Exploiting these tendencies is often more profitable and simpler than sticking strictly to GTO, especially when playing against players who are not themselves playing optimally.

In recreational games, many players make consistent mistakesโ€”such as overvaluing hands, playing too many hands, or bluffing too oftenโ€”which creates clear opportunities for exploitative play. Adapting your strategy to take advantage of these tendencies can be both more profitable and more enjoyable than rigidly adhering to GTO.

4. Learning and Improvement

While GTO may not always be the best fit for recreational players, it can still provide value for those who are serious about improving. Even a basic understanding of GTO concepts can help recreational players avoid huge blunders and make more informed decisions. For example, learning about pot odds, implied odds, and hand ranges can give players a better sense of when to call, raise, or fold.

However, for most recreational players, the amount of time and effort required to fully implement GTO is often disproportionate to the rewards. If the goal is simply to have fun, thereโ€™s no need to memorize complex GTO charts or use solvers. Itโ€™s more beneficial to focus on a broad understanding of poker strategy and improve through practical experience, rather than aiming for the mathematically perfect play in every hand.

5. Variance and Emotional Impact

Poker, particularly at the recreational level, is often about managing varianceโ€”the inherent ups and downs in the game due to luck and human error. GTO is designed to minimize variance in the long term, making it an ideal strategy for professionals who play for profit over thousands of hands. However, for recreational players, the emotional swings associated with variance can be harder to handle when trying to implement GTO.

GTO may reduce the chance of big losses in the long run, but it doesnโ€™t eliminate variance in the short term. Recreational players, especially those playing for fun, might find themselves frustrated by losing streaks, even if they are following GTO principles. In such cases, the emotional toll of sticking to an optimal strategy in the face of luck-driven outcomes might make the game less enjoyable.

6. GTO Is More Relevant in Higher-Level Games

GTO is most effective in high-stakes games or against opponents who are well-versed in poker theory. If you’re playing in a casual home game or low-stakes casino games, the players you face are unlikely to be using GTO or thinking at a high level. In these environments, using GTO might not give you a significant edge over your opponents. Instead, adapting to their mistakes and exploiting weaknesses tends to be more profitable.

In contrast, if you start playing in higher-stakes games or online poker with skilled opponents, a basic understanding of GTO becomes more important. These opponents will be more likely to adjust their play to exploit your weaknesses, and without a solid foundation in GTO, you could find yourself at a disadvantage.

Conclusion: GTO or Not for Recreational Players?

For recreational players, GTO may not be the best strategy to focus on, especially if your primary goal is to have fun and enjoy the game. The strategy is complex, time-consuming, and often unnecessary when you are playing against opponents who aren’t using GTO themselves. Exploitative playโ€”adjusting your strategy based on your opponents’ weaknessesโ€”is usually more effective and enjoyable for most recreational players.

That being said, a basic understanding of GTO concepts can still be valuable for recreational players who want to improve their game. Learning key GTO principles such as pot odds, position, and basic hand ranges can help players avoid common mistakes and make more informed decisions. However, the heart of recreational poker is about enjoying the experience, and sticking strictly to GTO can sometimes take the fun out of the game.

Ultimately, whether you choose to use GTO or not depends on your goals. If youโ€™re playing poker for enjoyment and social interaction, focus on understanding the fundamentals, exploiting your opponents’ mistakes, and having fun. If you want to develop a deeper understanding of the game and improve your skills over time, studying GTO concepts can be a valuable toolโ€”but it doesnโ€™t have to be your sole focus.

Does Poker Streaming in Poker Rooms or Casinos Affect the Players?

With the rise of online poker streaming, platforms like Twitch and YouTube have become central to the poker world, and now, live streaming poker from physical poker rooms and casinos has emerged as a popular trend. Major casinos and poker rooms, such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and PokerGO, stream high-stakes games, tournaments, and cash games to a global audience. However, as the practice of streaming live poker in casinos becomes more common, it raises the question: Do players who are part of these televised or streamed games experience any significant impact on their play, and how do they navigate the challenges of performing under the gaze of a worldwide audience?

The Psychological Impact of Streaming in Physical Poker Rooms

When players participate in poker games that are streamed live from casinos or poker rooms, they face a unique set of psychological pressures that are different from online streaming or private games. The fact that their play is visible to thousands (or even millions) of viewers can have several potential effects on their behavior and decision-making:

1. Increased Pressure to Perform

One of the most noticeable effects of streaming in a casino or poker room is the heightened psychological pressure on the players. Knowing that their actions are being broadcasted to a live audience can create anxiety, especially for players who are not used to being in the spotlight.

For professional players, this pressure may be manageable, as they are accustomed to the scrutiny of big-stage events. However, for recreational players or less experienced professionals, the added visibility can lead to nerves, possibly affecting their performance. They might feel the weight of representing themselves or their sponsors, which could influence their decisions, either pushing them to play conservatively or, conversely, taking unnecessary risks to impress the audience.

2. Distractions from the Crowd and Broadcast Crew

In a live casino setting, streaming involves not only the cameras but also the live audience, who may cheer, jeer, or react to every significant moment in the game. Players are aware of this external attention, which can lead to distractions.

The presence of cameras and broadcasters can also alter the atmosphere at the table. While some players might thrive in this environment, feeding off the energy of the crowd, others might struggle with the constant scrutiny. In physical poker rooms, the buzz of the casino and the close proximity of the camera crew can lead to moments where players find it difficult to concentrate, potentially impacting their decision-making process.

3. Alteration of Strategy and Play Style

Poker is a strategic game, and part of that strategy involves keeping your opponents guessing. When playing in a streamed game, however, players are acutely aware that their moves are being broadcast. This can lead to a shift in strategy, where players may alter their usual play style either to entertain viewers or to appear more competent in front of an audience.

Some players may choose to take risks or play more aggressively to create dramatic moments for the stream, leading to plays that differ from their typical strategy. This shift can be a double-edged sword, as taking unnecessary risks may lead to poor decisions, but it can also inject an element of excitement into the broadcast that could benefit the player’s brand. Similarly, some players may play overly cautiously to avoid making mistakes that could be scrutinized by the audience, potentially missing profitable opportunities.

The Influence of Poker Rooms and Casinos

While the players themselves are directly affected by the pressure of streaming, the poker rooms and casinos where these games are played also play a critical role in shaping the streaming experience.

1. Game Selection and Stakes

The poker rooms and casinos that host streamed events often select high-stakes games and well-known players to ensure that the stream attracts a large audience. This selection process tends to create a more intense atmosphere for the players involved, as the stakes are higher and the spotlight is on them. For example, major events like the WSOP, streamed from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, often feature renowned players and big-money pots, which add an additional layer of pressure.

Players involved in these high-profile games might feel an increased sense of responsibility, knowing that their every hand is being watched and analyzed by the poker community. This can affect their decision-making, leading them to focus more on managing their image than on strictly optimal play.

2. Atmosphere and Privacy Concerns

Casinos and poker rooms that are streaming games typically make adjustments to accommodate the cameras, such as ensuring players are adequately positioned for visibility or even using specialized technology (e.g., hole card cameras) that allows viewers to see the playersโ€™ cards.

For some players, this constant surveillance can feel invasive. They may feel uncomfortable knowing that their actions and even their facial expressions are under constant examination, potentially affecting their behavior and overall gameplay. In certain cases, players have been known to adjust their usual habitsโ€”such as the timing of their actions or their physical mannerismsโ€”because they are aware of the cameras capturing every move.

3. Pressure from Sponsors and Branding

For professional players who have sponsorship deals, live streaming from casinos can be a key moment to promote their personal brand and gain exposure. With large viewerships, they may be required to represent their sponsors in a positive light, which can influence their behavior. The desire to maintain a strong public image may lead some players to avoid certain plays or take extra care to come across as a skilled and thoughtful strategist.

In certain cases, the pressure from sponsors to โ€œperformโ€ for the camera can influence the playerโ€™s style and approach. Players may feel compelled to take risks or adopt a specific persona for the sake of branding, which may not always align with optimal strategy.

The Positives and Negatives of Poker Streaming for Players

1. Benefits of Exposure

For players, especially those in the early stages of their careers or looking to grow their fan base, streaming poker games in casinos and poker rooms can offer a major opportunity for exposure. By showcasing their skills in a streamed environment, players can gain followers, increase their visibility in the poker world, and even attract sponsorship deals.

Moreover, the interaction with the audience, particularly through platforms like Twitch, can be rewarding on a personal level, providing support and engagement from fans and fellow players alike. The ability to engage directly with viewers also allows players to demonstrate their expertise and teaching abilities, which can help build credibility and loyalty.

2. The Risk of Poor Performance Under Pressure

However, the risks associated with streaming can also manifest in less favorable outcomes. Players who are not comfortable with the attention or the added pressure may experience performance drops or make decisions that are not in their best interest. For some players, knowing that the world is watching may cause them to second-guess their moves, while others may make decisions solely for entertainment value, potentially jeopardizing their chances of winning.

Conclusion: A Complex Relationship Between Streaming and Play

Poker streaming in casinos and poker rooms creates a complex relationship between players and their gameplay. While streaming provides players with a unique opportunity for exposure, branding, and community engagement, it also introduces significant psychological pressures, distractions, and strategic challenges. The effect on a player’s performance will vary based on their experience level, personality, and how well they can manage the demands of playing in front of a live audience.

Ultimately, whether streaming enhances or detracts from a player’s performance depends on how they handle the dynamic environment. For some, itโ€™s an exciting and profitable aspect of modern poker; for others, itโ€™s a distraction that requires careful navigation to ensure that the game’s integrity remains intact.
